Welcome to new North fire service lead

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue service has welcomed a new Northern Service lead.

I am very proud and excited to take on this new role, particularly after Ian, who did so much for the service in his 30 years.

Dermot Hogan, Group Manager

Dermot Hogan has taken on the role recently vacated by Ian Housley – who has now retired after 30 years with the service.

Dermot arrives in his new post having first joined the service in 1992.

During his time in the fire service, Dermot has risen through the ranks, from being a  Firefighter in 1992 to most recently Group Manager in Central Prevent and Protect based at Fire Service Headquarters.  In between this time, he has had the good fortune to work across the city and county in a variety of operational and specialist roles.

Northern Service Delivery Group Lead, Group Manager Dermot Hogan, said: “I am very proud and excited to take on this new role, particularly after Ian, who did so much for the service in his 30 years.

“I hope that this new position will enable me to continue to build strong relationships within the communities of Stoke on Trent, Newcastle and Staffordshire Moorlands .

“I’m looking forward to working across the county, alongside my excellent crews, to prevent incidents, deal with fires and other emergencies and ultimately, keep people safe throughout Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire."
