Six crews attended the scene of a factory fire in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday (Sunday 12 June).

Appliances from Longton, Hanley, Loggerheads, Newcastle and Sandford were called to an industrial premises on Sutherland Road in Longton, following reports of a fire.

Colleagues from Staffordshire Police also attended to manage road closures at the scene and investigating the cause.

Occupiers of the premises had evacuated upon the arrival of firefighters, where a large quantity of tyres and waste was well-alight outside, spreading to the inside of the building.

Two main jets, two hose reel jets and ten breathing apparatus were used to fight the fire, which was successfully extinguished by 4.45pm.

No-one was injured.

The premises was ventilated and crews who conducted a thermal scan of the area to ensure no further risk to the public.

Cadent and Western Power also attended after crews isolated the gas and electric supply within the building.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
