Five pumps attend derelict building fire

Five crews were dispatched to the scene of a derelict building fire in east Staffordshire yesterday (Sunday 19 June).

Appliances from Lichfield, Rugeley, Tamworth, Burton and Tutbury attended the address alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police on Fleet Street in Burton-upon-Trent shortly after 5.20pm.

Ten breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets were used to safely extinguish the blaze by 9.15pm which had spread to surrounding properties.

No-one was injured.

Partners from Cadent also attended in order to assess the gas supply within the affected area. 

Upon inspection, the cause was deemed to be a deliberate ignition and Staffordshire Police are investigating.
