Some of our firefighters are set to tackle Mount Snowden next month in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.

Around ten crew members from Leek Fire Station will join staff from Leek Building Society to walk up the mountain on Sunday 7 September.

Those taking part will also be wearing full firefighting kit and carrying water packs.

All money raised during the challenge will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides vital heath and wellbeing support to the UK’s fire service community.

Leek Station Manager, Jon Jackson, will be taking part in the challenge. He said: “The walk up Mount Snowden next month is going to be tough challenge but myself and the team are ready to embrace it and raise funds for a charity which is close to so many of our hearts.

“The Fire Fighters Charity provides support to so many former colleagues and their families not just in Staffordshire but across the country so the money is going to a worthy cause.”

Daniel Nutt, Branch Manager at Leek Building Society, said: “We are thrilled to participate in this challenge as a team, alongside colleagues from the station.

“The charity holds significant importance and resonates deeply with many people. In our branch, we are successfully raising funds through a summer hamper.

“Additionally, Leek Building Society will supply some match funding to the total raised, which will help us generate a substantial amount for this worthy cause.”

Also, as part of fundraising efforts, crews from Leek will also be attending Leek Building Society’s Derby Street branch on Friday (15 August) and Friday 5 September to carry out community engagement and share some key fire safety messages.
