Firefighters attend deliberate house fire

Firefighter in breathing apparatus tackling red flames

We have extinguished a house fire which was started deliberately in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Crews from Burslem, Hanley and Sandyford were called to High Street, Silverdale, just before 12.15pm on Friday (23 June).

Those inside had evacuated before we arrived and a hose reel jet was used to extinguish the blaze.

After inspecting the cause, it was later deemed to be deliberate.

The incident has been left with colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
