Fire extinguished inside derelict building

A man was rescued by a member of the public after a fire started inside a derelict building in Stoke-on-Trent.

Shortly after 10pm last night (Wednesday 3 July), we were called to St Johns Square in Burslem after a fire was spotted in the building.

Five appliances went to the scene and quickly extinguished the fire.

A man was trapped on the second floor and was bravely brought to safety by a member of the public who used ladders to rescue him.

A full inspection into the cause of the fire is underway.
