Fire crews help rescue horse following collision

Firefighters have helped rescue a horse following a two-vehicle collision on the M6 at junction 16.

A crew from Sandyford attended the incident at 1pm on Saturday (20 August) as did Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, police and Highways.

On arrival, the fire crew found a lorry and a car with a trailer involved in a collision.

The trailer was also found on its side with a horse inside it.

Fire crews were able to stabilise the trailer and the horse, called Romeo, was not injured.

No other injuries were reported.

The crew left the scene at 2.55pm.
