Fire crews extinguish fire at derelict building

Two firefighters using hose

We have extinguished a deliberate fire inside a derelict building in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Crews from Biddulph, Newcastle and Sandyford were called to Second Avenue, Kidsgrove, just before 6pm yesterday (28 June) after a single-storey building was set alight.

Firefighters used breathing apparatus, main jets and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire inside by 10.30pm.

After inspecting the cause of the fire, it was later deemed to be deliberate.

The incident has been left with colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
