Fire crews attend fatal collision

Firefighters attended a fatal road traffic collision near Leek yesterday (Monday 8 August).

We were called at 4.35pm to the A53 Buxton Road following reports of an incident involving multiple vehicles.

Crews from Leek, Longton, Hanley and Sandyford attended, along with West Midlands Ambulance Service and Staffordshire Police.

Firefighters assisted in the removal of casualties from the vehicles using specialist equipment.

Sadly, two men were confirmed dead at the scene.

Five other people were taken to hospital.

The incident has been left in the care of Staffordshire Police and inquiries are continuing.
