Fire crews have attended a fire on an embankment close to a railway line in Stafford.

Firefighters were called to Meadow Road, at 6.30pm on Tuesday (16 August), following reports of a grass fire.

Crews from Cannock, Penkridge and Stafford attended the scene.

On arrival, crews located a fire measuring 150 square metres, close to a railway line.

No one was reported injured.

Three pumps and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire.

The cause of the fire was later deemed to be accidental as a result of an overhead cable.

Crews made the area safe and left the scene just after 6.35am on Wednesday (17 August).

National Rail was informed.
