Crews rescue woman from car stuck in flood water

We have rescued a woman from a car after getting stuck in flood water in Tamworth.

Crews from Burton, Lichfield and Tamworth went to Main Road, Harlaston, just before 3pm on Friday (9 February) and found a BMW stuck in flood water.

Initially, we used a drone to assess the best course of action and identify any heat signatures in the area.

A water rescue sledge was used by firefighters to rescue the woman from inside the car.

Last week, we responded to lots of different incidents where people had become stuck in their vehicles in floodwater.

If there’s floodwater on the road, try and find another route which is safer and don’t try to drive through it.

Thankfully, we managed to bring the woman to safety without injury.
