Crews attend fatal house fire

Firefighters were called to a property off Crabtree Way, Rugeley, just before 10.45pm on Tuesday (31 January) following reports of a house fire.

Crews from Cannock, Rugeley and Stafford attended as did our colleagues from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a positive pressure ventilator were used to extinguish the fire.

The fire was extinguished by 11.10pm.

Sadly, a woman, in her 60s, and three cats were found deceased at the property.

Crews remain at the scene. 

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
