Our social media community guidelines
We use our social media channels to share information, promote safety, and engage with the communities we serve. We welcome comments, questions and discussion and value respectful engagement from everyone.
To help keep our online spaces welcoming and inclusive for all, anyone commenting on our social media channels must show courtesy, kindness and respect for all others and follow the guidelines below when interacting with us.
By visiting and engaging with our social media channels you agree to follow these guidelines.
Please do not use social media to report incidents to us. If an incident is in progress or there is a threat to life always dial 999.
What we encourage:
- Ask questions and seek advice
- Share experiences and feedback
- Engage in open and polite discussion
- Treat others with courtesy and respect
We want our channels to be places where people feel comfortable and where meaningful conversations can happen.
What we will not accept:
- Offensive, abusive, threatening or violent language
- Hate speech or discrimination of any kind, including on the grounds of race, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or age (as further detailed in the Equality Act 2010)
- Harassment, bullying or personal attacks
- Misinformation that could cause harm or confusion
- Content that is unlawful, defamatory or incites illegal activity
- Spam, repetitive comments or promotional material unrelated to our work
- Sharing personal information (yours or someone else’s), such as phone numbers or email addresses
- Breaches of the terms of any of the social media platforms themselves
Breach of guidelines
If these guidelines are not followed, we may:
- Hide or delete comments that breach the guidelines
- Limit or block users from our social media channels
- Report content or accounts to the platform provider
- Escalate serious concerns to relevant authorities where appropriate
