Warning issued following deliberate woodland fire

Fire crews are warning of the dangers of setting deliberate fires after they extinguished a large fire in the woodlands in Lichfield.
We were called to land off Walsall Road at around 6pm on Thursday (26 June) following reports of a fire.
Five appliances attended the scene and found a large wildfire, measuring approximately 45 by 20 metres.
Two main jets and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze and nobody was reported injured.
The fire was later deemed to have been caused deliberately.
Watch Manager Arturs Grotans, who attended the scene, said: “The recent dry weather increases the risk of fires spreading quickly and getting out of hand, so what may start as a bit of fun could have devastating consequences.
“Thankfully in this incident nobody was injured but damage was caused to woodland. I would like to remind people not to set fires in woodland especially during the warm weather.”
