Tumble dryer and baby sleep pillow product safety alert
We’re urgently asking people to check their tumble dryers and baby sleep pillows following recent safety notices.
If you have an integrated heat pump tumble dryer manufactured by Haier, we’re urging you to stop using the appliance immediately following concerns over fire risks with the internal short circuit.
The affected brands are:
- Baumatic
- Candy
- Caple
- Haier
- Hoover
- Iberna
- Lamona
- Montpellier
If you have one of these devices, stop using it and unplug it from the socket. Check the model and serial number online and contact the manufacturer to arrange a repair.
Haier has resumed its corrective action programme after updating the modification. Repairs are now being arranged for the remaining 85,000 affected machines.

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has also issued a Product Safety Alert for baby sleep pillow products, which are commonly used for babies to sleep on while unsupervised. This practice contravenes NHS Safe Sleep guidance.
The alert highlights harms of suffocation and overheating which can lead to serious injury or death.
Parents and carers are urged not to use these products for babies under 12 months old or to place them in a cot or crib. If the product was marketed for baby sleep or to be used unattended, parents and carers should contact the business directly to discuss redress.
