Safe+Sound recognised at awards ceremony

We have recently been crowned the winners of ALARM’s Partnership Award, which recognises innovative approaches to managing risk.
Safe+Sound was announced as this year’s winner for our work with partners to educate primary-age children on how to stay safe.
Safe+Sound is delivered to year 5 pupils free of charge at fire stations across the county. Children take part in a number of interactive workshops each delivered by a different organisation, including Staffordshire Police, Network Rail, the RNLI, the Canal & River Trust, HSBC Bank, DHL and Wincanton. We also use our interactive, immersive pod to deliver a fire safety in the home workshop. So far this academic year 7000 Staffordshire school children have attended a Safe + Sound event.
An online version of the programme is also available for teachers to watch in school, these programmes regularly attract over 16000 devices watching live every Wednesday at 10am on www.learnliveuk.com/safeound
Ian Read, Head of Prevent, Protect and Partnerships at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are delighted to win this award in recognition of what is a fantastic example of true partnership working.
“Partners coming together with the same shared goal of educating children with knowledge and life skills that will support them in leading safer and healthier lives.”
