Reminder to Get Out, Stay Out following bungalow fire
We are reminding residents to always Get Out, Stay Out when a fire happens in the home following a bungalow fire in Kidsgrove.
Crews were called at 2.30am on Saturday (6 December) to a home off Ravenscliffe Road.
Three crews attended the scene and the fire was partially extinguished when crews arrived.
Two people were taken to hospital after suffering smoke inhalation and they have since been discharged.
Station Manager Mike Loader attended the scene. He said: “The occupants of the house had attempted to tackle the fire themselves prior to our arrival and as a result, suffered smoke inhalation.
“Thankfully, they were not badly injured but I would like to remind people that if a fire occurs in the home, you should get out and stay out. Do not attempt to tackle the fire yourself or return for valuables.
“We deemed the cause of the fire to be accidental, by a tealight being left lit, so I would also remind people to ensure that all candles are extinguished before going to bed.”
