Reminder to complete online check after crews called to home

We are reminding all residents to complete a free, online check after a dishwasher caused a house fire in Penkridge.

Crews were called at 1pm on Sunday (1 March) to a house off Wolgarston Way following reports of a house fire.

Two appliances attended the scene and used a hose reel jet to extinguish a small dishwasher fire.

A woman was treated at the scene after suffering minor burns and smoke inhalation.

Crews completed a home fire safety visit before leaving the scene.

As part of a home fire safety visit, crews will give you personalised fire safety advise and fit free smoke alarms and heat detectors where appropriate.

To see if you are eligible for a visit, complete our free, online home fire safety check today.

We are also reminding people to ‘Get Out. Stay Out’ when there is a fire in the home, never attempt to tackle it yourself or return inside to collect valuables.
