Reminder to complete free safety check following house fire
We are reminding people to complete a free fire safety check following an accidental house fire in Stoke-on-Trent.
Crews were called at 10.25pm on Friday 30 January to a house off Brookwood Drive, Weston Coyney, following reports of a house fire.
Three appliances attended the scene and found an upstairs bedroom well alight.
Three people received treatment at the scene by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service after suffering smoke inhalation.
The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and following an investigation, we deemed the cause to be a candle left unattended.
Over the past year, we have attended over 400 accidental house fires in Staffordshire, most of which were preventable.
We are urging people to complete a short online survey to ensure you are as safe as possible from a fire.
The check only takes around 15-minutes to complete and can be done via the link here: HFSC.
