People urged to not start deliberate fires following wildfire

Firefighters are warning of the dangers of setting deliberate fires following an incident in south Staffordshire.
We were called to woodland off Whittington Hall Lane, Kinver, at 12.20pm on Saturday (16 August) following reports of a large fire.
Six appliances attended the scene and found an area measuring approximately 100 metres by 60 metres well alight.
Thankfully, nobody was reported injured.
Crew Manager Paul White, who attended the incident, said: “This wildfire was later deemed to have been caused deliberately.
“We are reminding people that due to the recent warm weather, what may start as a bit of fun can have devastating consequences and put significant strain on our resources.
“The sun can make grass and woodland very dry, meaning that fires can spread and get out of control quickly.”
