Horse rescued from muddy pond

Firefighters have successfully rescued an elderly horse which got stuck in a muddy pond in Uttoxeter.

We were called to a farm off Stone Road, Bramshall, just after 7.30am on Thursday (3 July) following reports of a horse stuck in water.

Five appliances attended the scene alongside a vet and animal rescue crews.

A telehandler was used to safely lift the horse from the pond and it was left in the care of a vet.

Thankfully, the horse is expected to make a full recovery.

Crews left the scene just before 11am.
