Flooding safety reminder after man rescued from car

We are reminding people to take care on the roads during floods after a man was rescued from a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews were called at 4.30pm on Friday (31 October) to the A34 at Trent Vale following reports of four vehicles stuck in water. The road had flooded following a downpour of heavy rain in the area.

Four crews attended the scene including a specialist water rescue unit. Three drivers had already got out of their vehicles before we got there.

One man was led to safety by fire crews and the cars were kindly recovered by Jon Beech Recovery.

Crew Manager Matt Wade attended the scene. He said: “Flooding can lead to some challenging conditions on the roads and we’re reminding people not to drive through flood water as it can put you and others in danger as well as causing irreparable damage to your vehicle.

“It is sometimes difficult to tell how deep water on the road is, so don’t take the risk of driving through it.

“A massive thank you to Jon Beech Recovery who assisted us in clearing the vehicles from the road.”
