Firefighters tackle fire inside business

Firefighters have extinguished a fire at a business in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

We were called just before 6pm on Wednesday (8 October) to a chip shop on Congleton Road, Kidsgrove, following reports of a fire.

Four appliances attended the scene and found a fire inside a fryer had spread to the ventilation system.

Crews used hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire and nobody was reported injured.

The fire was deemed to have been caused accidentally, and crews left the scene at 10.15pm.
