Firefighters tackle derelict building fire
Firefighters have tackled a fire inside a derelict building in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Crews were called at 8.25am today (Wednesday 14 January) to Cobden Street following reports of smoke coming from an empty building.
Three appliances attended the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service.
A man and a woman were rescued from the building and treated at the scene by paramedics.
The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
