Firefighters rescue horse from ditch

Firefighters have successfully rescued a horse that got stuck in a 10-foot ditch in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

We were called at 3.25pm on Friday (16 January) to land off Pinfold Lane following reports of a trapped horse.

Crews attended the scene and cut away branches to allow better access to the horse whilst it was sedated.

A telehandler was used to lift the horse out of the ditch, where it was then left in the care of a vet.
