Fire crews have extinguished a house fire caused by a lightning strike in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called to Gate Street, Weston Coyney, at 6.35pm on Sunday (20 July) following reports of flames coming from a house.

Four appliances attended the scene alongside our aerial ladder platform (ALP) and found a fire in the roof.

Due to the swift action of crews, the fire was extinguished using breathing apparatus and the ALP.

Nobody was reported injured.

Crews left the scene at around 10.15pm.
