Firefighters extinguish blaze inside derelict railway carriages

Fire crews have extinguished a fire which started inside derelict railway carriages in Stoke-on-Trent.
We were called to land off Shelton New Road at 11.15pm on Saturday (19 July) following reports of a large fire.
Four appliances and our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene alongside colleagues from British Transport Police and Network Rail.
Crews used three hose reel jets and two main jets to extinguish three carriages which were well alight.
Nobody was reported injured.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
