Fire crews to host charity car wash event

Firefighters from a fire station in East Staffordshire are due to hold a car wash in aid of charity this month.
Crews from Uttoxeter Fire Station, on Cheadle Road, will be on hand between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 14 June.
The event is in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides vital health and wellbeing support to the UK’s fire service community.
As well as getting your car cleaned, visitors will also have the chance to speak to our on-call firefighters who will also be taking part in the event.
Our on-call firefighters have the same role as a full-time firefighter, but they only respond when there is an emergency.
They receive the same training as full-time firefighters and go through the same rigorous training process, which involves a number of different aspects such as working at heights, breathing apparatus, road traffic collisions and first aid.
Anyone over the age of 18 who lives within a five-minute radius of Uttoxeter Fire Station can apply to become an on-call firefighter, and all applicants will go through the same recruitment and training process.
To find out more, come along to the event and chat with the team, or visit On-call firefighter recruitment.
