Fire crews take part in multi-agency exercise
Our fire crews have taken part in a multi-agency training exercise to enhance our response to significant incidents.
We joined colleagues from Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Police and West Mercia Police, along with the Rapid Relief Team, on Thursday 19 March, to further train officers in how to deal with dynamic events.
The training saw fire crews deal with a supposed chemical incident, giving personnel the opportunity to learn, in real-time, the challenges of such incidents while ensuring individuals were kept safe from harm.
The exercise also involved fire crews assisting and treating casualties at the site of an escalating incident.
Head of Response, Jim Bywater at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “This was a collaborative learning and development opportunity for us and colleagues across the emergency services, to enhance our training and understanding of the issues that could be faced by colleagues during emerging significant incidents.
“I am pleased we were able to demonstrate our robust response in relation to events that threatened public safety and am sure those involved found it incredibly useful and insightful.”
