Fire crews tackle blaze caused by smoking materials
Firefighters tackled a fire caused by smoking materials today (Thursday 12 February), so we are reminding people to take care when smoking in or around the home.
At around 4am, two crews were called to a house in Rugeley, following reports of a fire.
Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish a fire outside a property which was caused accidentally, by smoking materials.
Nobody was reported injured.
If you smoke, we would urge you to be cautious and follow the safety advice on our website here.
Over the past year, we have attended over 400 accidental house fires in Staffordshire, most of which were preventable.
We are urging people to complete a short online survey to ensure you are as safe as possible from a fire.
The check only takes around 15-minutes to complete and can be done via the link here: HFSC.
