Fire crews rescue man who fell down steep hill

Firefighters helped to rescue a man who fell down a steep incline in the Peak District on Wednesday (27 August).
We were called at 10.50am to land off Thorpe Road, Ilam, following reports of a man who had fallen down a steep hill and was stuck.
One appliance attended the scene alongside mountain rescue teams and colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Crews used ropes to lower the man to a place of safety before he was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.
Crew Manager Nicola Hall-Malone, who attended the scene, said: “Crews worked quickly to bring the man to safety and make sure he received medical attention as soon as possible.
We would like to remind people to take care in the outdoors this summer and be aware of potential hazards especially in areas with exposed cliffs or steep slopes."
