Fire crews extinguish large restaurant fire

Firefighters have extinguished a large fire at a restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called to Newcastle Road, Trent Vale, at 3.45am today (Monday 14 July) following reports of smoke coming from a detached building.

Five appliances including our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene and found a large fire in the roof of the building.

Two main jets and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire and two people were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

Crews remain at the scene to dampen down hot spots.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place in due course.
