Fire crews extinguish large house fire

Firefighters have extinguished a large house fire in Stafford.

Crews were called to a house off Wharf Road, Gnosall, at 8.20pm on Monday (12 May) following reports of a fire on the upper floor.

A total of 12 appliances attended the scene and used breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.

Six people were rescued from the house and neighbouring properties were also evacuated.

One person was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
