Fire crews extinguish large grass fire

Firefighters extinguished a large grass fire in south Staffordshire yesterday (Monday 28 July).

We were called to a field off New Road, Swindon, at 1.40pm following reports of a fire.

Five appliances attended the scene and used six hose reel jets and beaters to extinguish a fire measuring approximately 600 square metres.

Nobody was reported injured.

The fire was later deemed to have been caused accidentally.
