Fire crews attend train fire

Firefighters were called to Brindley Drive, Tamworth, just after 5.15pm on Wednesday (7 September) following reports of a train fire.

Crews from Barton-under-Needwood, Tamworth and Tamworth Mercia attended.

On arrival, crews found a train carriage on fire.

The fire was suppressed using three pumps, an automatic fire suppression and CO2.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was deemed to be accidental as a result of faulty brakes.

Crews made the area safe and left the scene just before 8.50pm.

National Rail was informed.
