Fire at private dog kennel deemed accidental

We have extinguished an accidental fire at a private dog kennel in Swindon where eleven dogs sadly died.

Crews from Cannock and Wombourne were sent to an address on The Holloway shortly after 12.35am on Saturday (26 August), following reports of a building which was on fire.

Firefighters used four hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze by 4.45am.

Sadly, eleven pet dogs died in the fire.

Fire investigators returned to the scene on Saturday morning to investigate the circumstances of the fire alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police.

The cause was later deemed accidental – as a result of an electrical fault in the building.

Firefighters left the scene just before 12pm.
