Electrical safety reminder following tumble dryer fire
We are reminding people of some key electrical safety tips following a tumble dryer fire in Endon.
Crews were called to Leek Road at 7pm on Tuesday (4 November) following reports of a tumble dryer on fire.
The fire was extinguished and nobody was reported injured.
The property was ventilated and tumble dryer removed.
Watch Manager Krissi Walchester attended the scene. She said: “Tumble dryers cause a large amount of house fires in Staffordshire every year, so we are reminding people of some key safety tips to help prevent fire.
"It is always best practice to ensure your electrics have a British or European safety mark and to ensure plug sockets or extension leads are not overloaded.
“High powered machines such as tumble dryers should be kept to a single socket to avoid overheating. They should not be left unattended and should be unplugged when not in use.
“Also, remember to clean the filter of your tumble dryer on a regular basis.”
