Electrical fault causes house fire in Stafford

Firefighters recently attended a house fire in Stafford which was caused by an electrical fault.

Crews were called at 3.15pm on Thursday (4 December) to a house off Stafford Road, Gnosall, following reports of a kitchen fire.

Three appliances attended the scene; the fire had been extinguished before crews arrived.

One woman received treatment at the scene after suffering smoke inhalation.

The fire was deemed to have been caused accidentally, by an electrical fault which set a toaster alight.

Watch Manager Jac Vincent attended the scene. He said: “The woman managed to leave the house before we arrived and this significantly reduced any risk to her safety.

“I would like to remind people to always get out, stay out, and call 999 – never try to tackle fires yourself or try and collect any valuables.

“I would also remind people of some key electrical safety tips, such as replacing all damaged cables and charges, not overloading sockets and keep one appliance to one plug where possible.”
