Crews tackle large garage fire in Stafford
Firefighters have tackled a large garage fire in Wheaton Aston, Stafford.
Crews were called at 3.05pm on Saturday (13 December) to a house off Ivetsey Road following reports of a large fire.
Five appliances and our aerial ladder platform (ALP) attended the scene and found a large fire involving a garage and the exterior of two properties.
Crews used two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire, and one man was taken to hospital for precautionary checks after suffering smoke inhalation.
The fire was later deemed to have been caused accidentally, by a diesel heater.
Station Manager Ant Ball attended the scene. He said: “Those inside the affected properties had evacuated before we got there, which significantly reduced any risk to their safety.
“I would like to remind people that when there’s a fire in the home, you should always Get Out, Stay Out and call 999.
“I would also remind people to Be Warm, Be Safe this winter and ensure that heaters are always kept a safe distance away from other materials and fuels are stored away from the heat source.”
