Crews have tackled a fire at a school in Uttoxeter today (Friday 20 March).

We were called to Thomas Alleyne's High School on Dove Bank, Uttoxeter, at around 2pm.

The school was evacuated whilst six breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets were used to safely extinguish the fire.

Station Manager John Kitchener, who attended the scene, said: “I want to praise the school, staff and pupils, on what was a first-class evacuation today.

“A full evacuation had been carried out before we arrived and we were quickly and efficiently guided to the scene of the incident.

“Staff and pupils followed their fire procedure to the letter.”

A fire investigation officer will be working to determine the cause.

No injuries have been reported.
