Firefighters tackled an accidental house fire in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews were called at 3.45pm on Sunday (7 December) to a house off Campbell Road, Stoke, following reports of a smoke alarm going off.

Two crews attended the scene and extinguished a small fire on the first floor.

Thankfully, nobody was reported injured.

Following an investigation, the cause was deemed to be accidental, by an electrical fault with the boiler.

Faulty electrics such as overloaded sockets and broken appliances cause around 7,000 fires across the country every year.

To reduce the risk of fire, we recommend that all damaged cables are replaced, one appliance is kept to one plug where possible and to always unplug appliances when they’re not in use.
