Crews respond to vehicles stranded in flood water

We are reminding drivers to never attempt to drive through flood water after crews responded to stranded vehicles in Lichfield.

Crews were called at 5.10pm on Saturday (28 February) to Croxhall Road following reports that three cars were stuck in flood water.

Four appliances attended the scene and used water rescue equipment to rescue three cars from flood water. The occupants were helped out of their cars and nobody was reported injured.

Firefighter Lee Chetwynd attended the scene. He said: “Driving through flood water can be very dangerous. Even a small amount of water can stop your engine and leave you stranded.

“If there’s flood water on the road, try and find another route and don’t try to drive through it, you could put yourself and others in danger.”
