Crews extinguish house fire caused by tumble dryer

Firefighters have extinguished a house fire that was caused by a tumble dryer in Stoke-on-Trent today (Tuesday 15 July).
We were called to Jesmond Grove, Blurton, at 12.20pm following reports of smoke coming from a dryer.
Two appliances attended the scene and used breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish a fire on the ground floor.
Nobody was reported injured but a dog was given oxygen at the scene after suffering smoke inhalation. The dog has been taken to the vets as a precaution.
The fire was deemed to have been caused by a tumble dryer fire.
We are reminding people to clean dryer filters regularly and remove fluff, and remember not to overload plug sockets.
