Crews extinguish accidental flat fire in Cannock

Firefighters have extinguished a flat fire in Cannock that was caused accidentally.

Crews were called at around 4am yesterday (Monday 16 February) to a flat off Brownhills Road, following reports of a fire.

Two crews attended the scene and used a hose reel jet to extinguish a fire on the ground floor.

A woman and a child received precautionary checks at the scene.

Following an investigation, fire investigators deemed the cause to be accidental.

Over the past year, we have attended over 400 accidental house fires in Staffordshire, most of which were preventable.
