Crews called to two rescue incidents due to flood water
We are reminding drivers to never attempt to drive through flood water after we were called to two stranded vehicles over the weekend.
At around 5.15pm on Saturday (7 February), crews were called to Croxall Road, Lichfield, following reports of a car stuck in flood water.
The car was towed to safety by a member of the public before we got to the scene, but crews assisted with road closures to ensure no more cars drove through the water.
At around 11.30am on Sunday (8 February), crews pushed a car to safety after it got stuck in water under an aqueduct on Watling Street, Stretton. The driver and a passenger, a man and a woman, were checked over by paramedics at the scene.
Head of Prevent, Protect and Partnerships, Ian Read, said: “Driving through flood water can be very dangerous. Even a small amount of water can stop your engine and leave you stranded.
“If there’s flood water on the road, try and find another route and don’t try to drive through it, you could put yourself and others in danger.”
