Crews called to flats after saucepan left on the hob
We are reminding residents to always ‘look when you cook’ after firefighters were called to a block of flats in Stoke-on-Trent.
Crews were called at 8.15pm on Sunday (5 April) to flats on Honeywall, Stoke, following reports of a smoke alarm going off.
Two appliances attended the scene and the fire was out when crews arrived.
Crews found the smoke alarm had been sounded due to a saucepan being left on a hob.
More than 50 per cent of the fires that we attend are caused by cooking and distraction is the main cause of these fires.
We are reminding people to always ‘look when you cook’ and take any pans off the heat if you have to leave the room.
