Crews called to bonfire in Stoke-on-Trent

Bonfire at night

We are urging people not to burn unwanted items after crews were called to a bonfire in Stoke-on-Trent.

Crews were called at 8pm yesterday (Wednesday 25 March) to Abbots Road, Abbey Hulton, following reports of smoke coming from the area.

Two appliances attended the scene and found furniture being burnt in a garden. The fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet and nobody was reported injured.

We do not recommend burning rubbish at home. Bonfires can quickly escalate out of control and damage property and the environment.

Where possible, take any unwanted items and rubbish to the tip.
