Crews attend large bonfire
We are reminding people of some key bonfire safety tips after crews were called to a large bonfire in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday (Wednesday 5 November).
Crews were called at 6.25pm to Westbourne Drive, Tunstall, following reports of a large bonfire.
Two appliances attended the scene and monitored the fire as a controlled burn.
Watch Manager Neil Gordon said: “We understand that people will want to have bonfires at this time of year, but it is crucial that it is done safely to avoid putting people and the environment at risk.
“I would always advise that bonfires are kept away from sheds, fences and trees and never burn aerosols, batteries, tyres or anything that may produce toxic fumes.
“Never use spirits to light a bonfire and keep buckets of water nearby in case of an emergency.”
