Unattended candle causes house fire in Stoke-on-Trent

We are reminding people to never leave candles unattended after crews were called to a house in Stoke-on-Trent.

We were called at 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday 12 May) to a house on Kimberley Road, Etruria, following reports that a candle had caught fire after being left on top of a cooker.

One appliance attended the scene to ventilate the property and thankfully, nobody was reported injured.

Candles are a significant fire hazard in the home, so we are reminding people to never leave them unattended, keep them out of reach of children and away from flammable materials.
