Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service receive Silver Award from Employer Recognition Scheme

We’re delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for our commitments to supporting ex-members of the armed forces, veterans, reservists and their families.

The Silver Award is given to employers who are able to demonstrate support to the armed forces community through policies and practices and we’re delighted to be one of a number of organisations to achieve this recognition.

Chief Fire Officer Rob Barber said: “I am extremely proud that we’ve been recognised for our commitments and support to members of armed forces, former serving members and their families.

“We are committed to supporting serving personal, reservists, veterans and military families and we recognise the incredible value they bring to our organisation and our country. We also hope that this award encourages people to consider Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service as a potential future source of employment.”

“Having only signed the Armed Forces Covenant last year and achieving the Silver Award within 12 months is testament to all the hard work and commitment from everyone across the service.”

Last year, we signed the Armed Forces Covenant and were awarded the bronze award as we pledged to support military personal past and present. The covenant is a promise to ensure that those who serve, or previously served in their armed forces and their families are treated fairly.

Staffordshire Commissioner for Police, Fire & Rescue and Crime Ben Adams said: “I’m delighted that Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service has received this award, recognising its commitment to supporting past and present members of the Armed Forces, as well as those who are close to them.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has served in the Armed Forces, and especially those within the fire and rescue family, for the contributions they continue to make in keeping us all safe.
